Flash Flash Everywhere

0

I would by no means call myself anything more than a ‘novice’ at programming with Actionscript; it’s not something I have volumes of experience in, outside of the program I took in college. I swore I’d never work on another Flash project after my last class, and a couple weeks later I was at a 3-day Flex training course.  To continue the trend, I’ve been doing quite a lot of Actionscript (3) at work for the past month or so at work, making interactive maps (eep!) — I’ve been called ‘the map guy’ by some because of it.

HENCE ALL THE ACTIONSCRIPT 3 RELATED POSTS.

Indeed, I had set up a separate blog to keep track of the little nuances/annoyances I learned (and that I’m still learning!) while reading and programming in AS3. Then I realized it was a waste of time to maintain another blog and promptly merged it with this one. Funny how things work out …

WordPress 2.5 (oh, and I redesigned)

2

I’m a crazy beta-eating-fiend so I’ve installed the WordPress 2.5 beta (or I guess as it’s currently known “2.4 bleeding”) and I have to say that so far I’m impressed with the new (but incomplete) interface. ANYTHING was better than what they used to have, and it would appear as though they’re using an updated version of TinyMCE since I can now post in Safari using the WYSIWIG! Yay!

Almost just as amazing as the interface is the extremely easy way to update my beta install of wordpress. Seriously SVN should replace downloading the .zip/.gzip every time a new version of WordPress is released because sweet jebus is it ever fast and it only replaces files that have been updated.

I SSH to the server, navigate to the folder where this site is, run

svn update

and voila. It’s ridiculously simple. Though I guess the trade-off is that I’m using buggy and unstable code. Hmm. I’m a wild and crazy guy!

SVN FOR THE WIN!

ANYWHO. So the site has been relaunched, which is sweet since the old design was quite, well … old.
