Robot Less Than Three

I had an idea that lead to another idea which spun off into a grungey robot. It’s so emo.

Full size @ Flickr.

Orange!

It’s Spring, but everything is still dead outside. I needed to do something that seemed at least a teensy-bit lively:

FAKE BOKEH!

Oh, at the risk of further shaming myself on the internets: this contains both a PS Lens Flare and at one point, gratuitous use of Liquify. That’s right: Lens Flare.

Grand Voyage

This is a cop-out post, since I haven’t posted in about a month. It contains no substance.

My terrible excuse: I’m having a delicious bowl of soup right now and have been spending much of my time at the gym, outside running, or inside recovering from either of those two activities and consuming food to excess.

I should have posted this bad-ass 1680×1050 wallpaper sooner:
ENDURANCE

Currently listening to the new album from the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s (It’s Blitz!) — I am enjoying it so far.

Disturbing Yester-year.

donut-tophat01I was rifling through old cds and came across archives of ugly made since late 2001 … back in the day when I thought Photoshop was too hard and Paint Shop Pro was the best software ever. I also considered becoming a 3d animator back then, too. Bryce was my weapon of choice (I was in for a shock when I tried out 3DSM after using Bryce).

I’m so embarrassed by the titling and singing on the bottom right of all the images. Those were meant to be covered up by the taskbar on my bad-ass 800×600 display.

I also loved Splash pages. Went all out with what fonts you needed to view the site, which browser was best, what was better since the last version. It’s disturbing how many sites “required IE 5.5+” … …

It’s hard to take screenshots of the old sites I’ve made because they were built using the Homestead/Geocities site builder; flash forward 8 years and I am left with folders of image slices meant to be absolute-positioned-together. Once you get into the 2004-area I started playing with early versions of MoveableType and later, WordPress. I didn’t have the foresight to keep database backups back then, or even the version of MT/WP/GreyMatter I was using. Those layouts are kind of lost, as a result.

WITH THAT BEING SAID … I do have a whole lot of desktop backgrounds — which have the benefit of looking a tiny bit decent because they were put together in Bryce, which requires no effort whatsoever.

RIGHT, ONTO THE GOOD STUFF:

SUPER-OLD STUFF

Most of this stuff has a date attached, but if it doesn’t — it likely came from 2001-2004.
